Since its founding in 1964, Chicago-based V&V Supremo has been supplying a full line of dairy and meat products to the Hispanic community – and well beyond. Today, the company is run by Gilberto Villaseñor II and Philip Villaseñor, the sons of the original founders, and is proud to be the oldest family-run business of its kind in the country. Throughout decades of innovation, the family’s goal has always remained “to bring our passion to the plate.”
As the company experienced rapid growth, the V&V Supremo team began to feel the effects of their aging IT platform. Rich Wright, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, knew it was time for a major update to the organization’s technology. He understood the value in bringing in an experienced partner who could ensure it was done right. He also knew they needed someone who could assume responsibility for ongoing IT management, so they could focus on their expanding business.

Partnering with CompassMSP has also freed the V&V Supremo team to focus on bigger picture projects. “We have Compass to support our day-to-day needs,” says Rich. “That enables us to use our limited internal resources on higher end deliverables, like an ERP implementation.”

As Rich explains, “Through my relationship with Mike, we’re always aware of what we should be thinking about, what his recommendations are for our infrastructure, and what we need to know. Open, frequent communication has been key to a productive partnership. “The quarterly reviews we do with Mike are always forward looking, and that’s really valuable to me in my role as CFO,” says Rich.
Cost efficiencies from eliminating downtime have been another important benefit of teaming with CompassMSP. “We use a lot of handheld devices in our warehouses,” says Rich. “And problems with those can lead to shipment delays and other issues. Compass has helped us stay on top of any potential disruptions, and avoid those costly incidents.”

The future looks bigger and brighter.
As V&V Supremo continues to grow, they’ll continue to rely on CompassMSP to guide their IT needs. “We’re looking at some very substantial production expansion,” says Rich. “As we evolve and become more complex, we’ll be looking to Compass to tell us what we need from an IT perspective.”
